nicole and i went to a breakfast joint called Snooze, which i have been hearing about for over a year from everyone i know in denver. so we finally decided to go today, after we made the deposit on our new apartment (!!!!!!)
i ordered the breakfast tacos, which were better than the standard scrambled egg/veggie combo (i smothered mine in cholula sauce), and then ordered one strawberry & rhubarb pancake; which came with whipped cream, and the batter was made with graham crackers. it SOUNDS awesome, but it was kind of a disappointment after the whipped cream was gone.
nicole ordered the Snooze Spudz Deluxe…. and oh my god. oh my god. O.M.G. it consists of hashbrowns, cheddar, and she added green chili and avocado to it…. oh my god. i took a few big bites of it, and we had to high five each other. that’s how we’re rating our meals, now. how many high fives does this deserve? fist bumps are half a point. (just sayin’.) so i told her that i want a Spudz Deluxe as my birthday cake; just put a candle in that shit and put it in front of my face on the right day. she also ordered a pineapple upside down pancake that had chunks of pineapple in the batter, and was smothered with cinnamon butter and a vanilla cream sauce. that got another high five.
oh, and i forgot to mention the little gay waiter that told nicole she was dressed like one of the characters from Spring Awakening, and then proceeded to sing one of the songs from the musical and did a little dance for us. that also got a high five.
the complimentary coffee while we waited to be seated, and add the super reasonable prices for the amazing food got a high five as well.
and on our way out the door, a super cute dude walked by us… which got a fist bump.
so, yeah… Snooze on Colorado Blvd in Denver gets 4 high fives and a fist bump. GO.

Ok first off, sorry if this makes anyone super hungry but i must share this!
If you’re a vegan or lactose intolerant such as myself, or just want try something new… Daiya Cheese is the best vegan cheese I have ever had! I had it at a vegan restaurant in Ft. Worth & instantly investigated what type of ‘cheese’ they used.
Daiya JUST recently made it available in Whole Foods stores around the US. So if you love to cook as much as i do and have missed that authentic cheese taste (it’s made me so sad to live without this long) or just want to be a little more conscious about what you’re eating, then get your butt to WF & stock up! I put it in EVERYTHING. ok, not everything but you know.
love.

jesse asked me to write an introduction to my soon-to-be often food diatribes; so here it goes:
my name is emily. photographer and self-proclaimed anti food prude. i’ve recently gotten into the habit of documenting my meals through pictures because, you know, food is pretty; and i like to have some sort of visual aide to remind me of it’s former physical splendor before i mutilate it. /introduction
this post was inspired by the following exchange made between my best friend nicole and i, about an hour ago.
nicole: did you see that photo john mayer posted on his tumblr the other day?
me: (eyes roll back into head) you mean the self portrait through the mirror?
nicole: yeah.
me: dude. that photograph makes me want to eat a giant cheeseburger and some ice cream.
so we went to good times (a fast food joint that is completely foreign to me, being a recent transplant to denver from houston), where i got a spicy guacamole bacon burger with fries AND onion rings… and a “strawberry cheesecake addiction spoonbender”, which i forgot to photograph before i dug into it, but you can see the after shot here (the big one was nicole’s. HAD to clarify).
welcome to my inner fat kid. nice to meet y’all.
(my tumblr can be found here, and my photo site can be found here.)

today’s food: the salad bar at whole foods with nicole. i got a cup of the black bean and corn vegan soup, and a mixed greens salad with salmon and just about everything else you can think of; although i’m not such a fan of their roasted red bell peppers, they definitely taste like they came from a jar. everything else was pretty spot on, though. the long orange things on nicole’s salad were teriyaki sweet potatoes. so good.
